As the Program Manager for one of the Tax Preparation teams at JDA TSG. Michael is responsible for exceeding our clients’ expectations by developing and maintaining a team of seasonal tax preparers. In that role, he provides direction for the team members to meet pre-defined goals. He is also responsible for managing the team, tracking performance data, and finding opportunities for operational improvements.
With an education in law, Michael developed an analytical mindset. He uses those skills in problem solving for his team and his team members. He also has an extensive background in supporting customers in preparing and filing their taxes using online tax preparation services.
Michael has an extensive background in federal taxation. He worked for a subsidiary of Goldman Sachs, where he advised employees of Fortune 500 companies regarding the tax implications of changes to their employee benefit plans. This included advising clients re: grants of stock options, RSUs; changes in pension plan design and 401(k) plans; early retirement offers and other programs. Further, Michael advised survivors of employees concerning the tax ramifications of the assets/proceeds that they inherited upon the employee’s passing.
At TaxAct, he was involved in the introduction of their full-service operations. He reviewed a large percentage of the prepared returns for accuracy. He also monitored calls conducted by the tax experts to evaluate their performance and provide coaching where necessary. Michael also helped develop the Bonus Performance Plan.
Michael lives in Stillwater, New York. He enjoys spending time with family, landscaping, dining out, and visiting historic sites in Saratoga and Lake George. His hobbies include cooking, fishing, swimming, and boating.
